Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin contains Fluticasone propionate and mupirocin. Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin is used in the treatment of skin infections. Fluticasone topical is used to reduce inflammation and relieve itching, redness, dryness and scaling associated with various skin conditions, whereas mupirocin kills bacteria by destroying the bacterial cell membrane.

Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin is a combination  of fluticasone dipropionate and mupirocin. Fluticasone propionate blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Mupirocin works by stopping the production of necessary proteins needed for bacterial surveillance. It is also active against Gram-negative organisms such as Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenza. It is not effective against fungal or viral infections.

Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin should only be taken if advised by your doctor.  This cream should not be used on children below 2 months of age. Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin should be used for skin only, and accidentally if it gets into your eye, mouth or nose, rinse with water. Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin should be applied to the affected area with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin should not be applied more than the recommended dose to avoid unpleasant side effects.  Some common side effects of Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin are burning, itching, redness, stinging and dryness on your skin in the place where Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin ointment is applied. Sensitive, allergic reactions (skin hypersensitivity reactions) like rashes, itching, swelling, and shortness of breath can occur in rare cases. Please consult your doctor if an allergic reaction becomes severe.

Tell your doctor if you are known to be allergic to Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin or any other medicines. It is unknown whether Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin harms the baby or passes into breast milk in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is better to contact a doctor before using Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If nursing mothers apply Fluticasone Propionate+mupirocin to their breasts or nipple, they should wash the affected area thoroughly before nursing their babies. Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Inform your doctor if the treated skin area does not improve after 2-4 weeks of treatment.

Be sure to mention the other topical medicines used by you to your doctor. Plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen if you use fluticasone lotion.
